March 30th, 2010 / Frankfurt/Main, Germany: LORENZ Life Sciences Group is happy to announce that the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices has issued a statement that they will accept electronic only submissions in lieu of paper.
The notice, published March 26th, outlines that the agency will be accepting electronic only submissions from March 31st 2010. The applicants have the choice of submitting either an eCTD formatted submission or a NeeS submission. For those that continue to want to submit in paper, this is still an option. The agency, however, has stated that the preference is electronic only.
"After twenty years of working with the German agency, we have finally made the step to electronic only," says Wolfgang Witzel, President of LORENZ Life Sciences Group. Wolfgang Witzel was amongst the first to introduce the idea of an electronic submission in Germany in 1989. Incidentally, the twenty years also coincides with the twenty year anniversary of LORENZ.
To celebrate this occasion, LORENZ will issue a further statement on the history and background of electronic submissions in the coming days.
