Xerox and Lorenz announce joint marketing of submission management/publishing solution - XPrint and docuBridge - for the Life Science sector

Baltimore - May 28, 2002

Xerox Corporation, the market leader for document solutions and Lorenz Archiv-Systeme GmbH, the premier provider of Submission Management Systems for the Life Sciences sector, announced today a joint marketing arrangement for an 'out of the box' publishing package combining both XPrintÆ printing technologies and docuBridge submission management technologies. This package will enable regulatory affairs departments to compile and publish dossiers on paper and electronically. The package consists of software and hardware to fully process electronic and paper dossiers.

The solution is scalable for small and large organizations. Size, complexity and number of dossiers are unlimited. All types of dossiers e.g. CTD, IND, NDA and their electronic equivalents are supported. As a package the application can be implemented with minimal configuration and within a few days. The application does not require an established Document Management System. When there is such a system in place (e.g. DocumentumÆ), it can be used as a source for dossiers.

"This package enables small and medium sized organizations to quickly implement a cost effective solution … the flexibility and scalability allows fast implementation but leaves open the option for later integration of a corporate Document Management System," says Raoul-A. Lorenz, President of Lorenz International LLC.

"Despite the electronic submission era, the requirement to produce paper will remain in the future. With this package customers will purchase proven state of the art technology … the hardware can also be used for a variety of purposes beyond dossier production," says Rudy Moreno, Advanced Solutions Engagement Manager, Life Sciences, Global Solutions Groups of Xerox Corporation.

"Lorenz has developed this solution benefiting from their expertise and being a part of this niche industry since 1989. docuBridge's new concept is based on XML and PDF technology … its architecture considers regional regulatory aspects including Japan and future enhancements to existing guidelines e.g. eCTD will be maintained," says Akira Yamaguchi, Marketing Director of Lorenz. “Lorenz will continue to support all ICH interested parties through the next planned steps of the specification and implementation of guidelines.”
